Privacy policy
Feed Bouncer browser extension, for Chrome and Firefox (computer and Android). Effective October 20, 2026.
In short: Feed Bouncer works entirely in your browser. It reads some of your Facebook information so it can filter your feed, keeps what it needs on your own computer, and never sends anything to the developer or anyone else. There are no accounts, no analytics and no ads.
What Feed Bouncer uses, and why
| Information | Why | Where it's kept, and for how long |
|---|---|---|
| Your settings (what to hide, display choices) | To filter your feed the way you chose. | In the browser's extension storage. If you use your browser's sync (Chrome sync or Firefox sync), the browser may copy them to your other devices through your account, as it does for any extension's settings. Kept until you change them or remove the extension. |
| Your ✓ / ✗ list: the profile links and names of people, pages and groups you mark | To always show or always hide them, and to show their names on the list page. | On your device only. Kept until you remove them or remove the extension. |
| Your keywords | To hide, or always show, posts containing them. | On your device only. Kept until you change them or remove the extension. |
| Your friends list, who you follow, and the groups you're in | So friends and follows are never hidden by accident, and for the Friend, Following and Joined badges. | On your device only, scrambled: each profile and name is stored as a one-way code, so the saved lists can't be turned back into names or profiles. Refreshed from Facebook while you use it, and deleted as soon as that account signs out of Facebook or a different account signs in. |
| Your Facebook account ID and name | To keep each account's settings separate when several people use the same browser, and to show "Account: name" in the menu. | On your device only. |
| Whether other accounts are a person or a page | For the Person and Page badges, so each account only needs to be looked up once. | In your browser's storage for facebook.com, as account numbers with a "person" or "page" label. Up to a few thousand entries; the oldest are dropped first. |
What leaves your computer
- Nothing goes to the developer or any third party. Feed Bouncer has no server of its own and contains no analytics, tracking or advertising code.
- Feed Bouncer only talks to facebook.com, using the account you're already signed in with. It asks Facebook for the same things Facebook's own pages load: your friends, follows and groups lists, and the small profile card Facebook shows when you point at a name (to tell people from pages).
- Your information is never sold, shared, or used for anything other than filtering your own feed.
Permissions it asks for
- Read and change your data on facebook.com: to read posts in your feed, add badges, and hide what you've chosen to hide.
- Storage: to save your settings, lists and keywords on your computer.
- Network rules (Firefox on Android only, facebook.com only): Feed Bouncer Mobile tells Facebook it's a Chrome phone browser, because Facebook's page for Firefox stops loading new posts once some are hidden. Nothing is added to or read from those requests.
- Cookies (facebook.com only): to read which Facebook account is signed in, so each account keeps its own settings, and to notice when you sign out so your saved friends list can be deleted right away. Feed Bouncer doesn't change or share any cookies.
Removing your data
- Clear list in the menu empties your ✓ / ✗ list; keyword pages let you delete keywords.
- Signing out of Facebook deletes that account's saved friends, follows and groups lists.
- Removing the extension deletes everything it saved. The person/page labels kept in your browser's storage for facebook.com are removed when you clear that site's data in your browser's settings.
Children
Feed Bouncer is meant for people old enough to use Facebook (13 and over) and doesn't knowingly handle information about children.
Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons policies
Feed Bouncer's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, and with Firefox Add-ons' policies. Information is used only to provide Feed Bouncer's single purpose, filtering your own Facebook feed, and is never transferred to anyone.
